Giving FAQs
What does Hillside believe about tithing?
Tithing is a concept we find in the Bible that expresses giving the first 10% of income to God. In the Old Testament, this commonly meant giving part of your harvest or livestock for the livelihood of the priests. In the New Testament, this often meant giving more than 10%:
All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. (Acts 2:44-45)
The call for the believer, then, is to support and engage in the life of their local assembly generously.

What is Kingdom Builders?
Kingdom Builders is simply the name we've given to our missions budget. Throughout the year, all the money given to Kingdom Builders funds our contributions to missionaries, missions organizations, disaster relief, local outreach, and other missions we choose to support.
Every November, we take time to focus on Kingdom Builders and to receive our Miracle Offering, wherein our church gives the majority of our Kingdom Builders budget for the next year.

What's the difference between tithing and Kingdom Builders?
Tithing is consistently giving 10% of income to the local assembly. This is an ongoing occurrence.
Kingdom Builders is giving that goes above and beyond that 10% to give to our missions budget.
